Granny’s Gourmet and Gifts

Sometimes what we consider a complete disaster becomes just what we needed in our lives. Thirteen years ago, I was laid off as Division Safety Manager of a large, global company. It involved travel and helping people, both which I loved. I quickly realized that a new career in this industry was not to be due to my age and restrictions in my severance package. This led me to begin thinking about early retirement. Not being the type or having the funds to just retire, I tried to come up with an entrepreneurial endeavor that I would love as much as I did my job. Since 75% of the job was traveling, there were many areas of my life that were neglected. Besides the obvious being with my family, the other was being in the kitchen. Yes, I was a cookbook reader for most of my life. I started Granny's Gourmet and Gifts not only to supplement my income, but to satisfy my need to feed people. I've always loved to cook and bake for my loved ones and friends. Starting with homemade quick breads and jams, etc., Granny's has expanded to include other baked goods and canned products. Currently, I offer my products in Canton, Texas at their First Monday Trade Days, in Watauga, Texas at the Watauga Artisan Market plus other individual events.
