Meet Auntie Em!

Hello, and welcome to Auntie Em's Bakeshop! Thank you for stopping by my page. I'm Emily, and I grew up in the cornfields around central Illinois. 🌽

Growing up, baking Christmas cookies in our home was a yearly tradition, and has continued into my adulthood with my immediate and sometimes even extended family, and now extends beyond the Christmas holiday season. 🎀

After attending the University of Illinois, my professional career took me to the state of Kansas 🌻where I developed an even greater love and appreciation for the Wizard of Oz 👠. I spent another 3 years in the DC metro area and discovered there really is no place like home in central Illinois, as I missed my family and the opportunity to share homemade baked goods with them.

My nickname growing up was Em, mostly because of my first name, but it also was the first initial of my maiden name. When I returned to the Midwest almost 15 years ago, several friends and family members began adopting me as their official Auntie Em once they started growing their families.

I'm truly grateful and honored, as it's one of the best titles I've ever had. So, why not combine my nickname, love of baking, and all things Oz as a cottage baker?🥣
