I started at 14 with a box cake mix and eventually began baking from scratch. I enjoy preparing a variety of baked goods, candies, or taking apart different recipes to create something new. In my early 20s I wanted to venture into breads and wished for a bread machine (it was all the rage at the time). I began to teach myself bread by making cinnamon rolls and yeast rolls. My sister, Kim, had planned to gift me a bread machine, but since I learned on my own she said my hands were my bread machine! Through the years I have baked for individuals and my sister’s restaurant/catering business. I honed my skills taking classes through Wilton Cake, Houston Cake Club, and watching a lot of Food Network. In 2012, I made the decision to enter culinary school and graduated with honors in 2013 with my A.A.S. in Baking and Pastry. My journey led me to work at a hotel, steakhouses, bakeries, cafes, and a coffee house. My greatest influences were my mom and grandmother who were both wonderful bakers and cooks. My mom was the final authority for me, whether a recipe was worthwhile. My mom firmly believed “good ingredients make a good recipe.” Her approval either made the recipe a hit or “lose this recipe” pile. Recently, I began to learn the benefits of milling my own grains to create my own flour and using them in my recipes. In March 2025, I followed the Lord’s prompting and leading to take a step of faith and launch my own cottage business to pursue my passion of breads and pastries full time.
